A bit of history

  • Gommeren

    Origins

In the 1950s, Willem Frans 'Sooi' Gommeren and Liza Vinckx joined forces. What started as a combination of a grain trade, gas station, and transport of grains and seeds quickly grew into a thriving business. Even from a young age, the children were ready to lend a helping hand.

    3 Brothers

The early '80s marked a new phase with the takeover by the second generation, consisting of brothers Jos, Julius, Marc, and Luc. Under their leadership, Transport Gommeren expanded its activities further. However, eldest son Jos decided to pursue his own path in the early '90s. Today, the third generation is also committed to the success of the transport company.

    Wildert

The picturesque village near the Dutch border, where it all began. At the beginning of the millennium, we moved all our activities to the Antwerp port, where we shifted to container transport. The old offices in Wildert now serve as a training center for our drivers.

    New Generation

We proudly announce that the torch is now carried by the third generation, which has been at the helm since 2023 alongside the second generation. It is a continuum of experience, dedication, and innovation that forms the core of our successful family business.

    45th Anniversary

2023 is also the year we celebrated our 45th anniversary, a milestone that we mark with gratitude and pride. It is a testament to our perseverance, commitment to quality, and enduring connection with our customers and partners. We look forward to the next stage of our journey in the world of transport.
